XRF Application Scientist
Malvern Panalytical
Westborough, Massachusetts
Dylan Lundgren is an XRF Application Scientist at Malvern Panalytical, where he works closely with a wide range of customers to address challenges related to elemental analysis. His expertise spans diverse industries, with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) applications ranging from raw materials at mining sites to quality control of final products on the shelf.
Dylan’s passion for analytical chemistry began during his M.S. studies at the University of New Hampshire, where he focused on in-situ pore-water biogeochemistry. Now based in Westborough, Massachusetts, he works hands-on with pharmaceutical manufacturers to support trace elemental analysis and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as USP Chapters <232> and <233>, as well as ICH Q3D.
While XRF may not always be the most appropriate solution for every application, Dylan’s role is to help customers navigate their analytical options and determine the best fit for their specific needs and environments.
In his presentation, "Identifying and Quantifying Elemental Impurities Using X-Ray Fluorescence," Dylan will provide an overview of elemental impurity guidelines from USP <232>, <233>, and ICH Q3D. He will also explore when XRF is advantageous and how it can be effectively applied throughout the R&D and manufacturing process.
